FOUNDER

Sophie believes that the passions, spirit, and visions of her clients should be the driving force in the design process. She is obsessed with exceeding our client’s expectations (literally obsessed!) Sophie’s strength lies in her ability to build a team. She has pulled together a group of passionate, talented, and creative floral + event experts who comprise Sophie Felts Floral Design.

Erica GAMBLE

PARTNER, PRESIDENT

Erica is the backbone of our team. A beautiful eye for design, a deep understanding of color theory, and a disciplined attention to detail set her apart. Erica and Sophie have been partners since 2016, she has been critical to our growth and success. Erica is a talented floral designer; her work has been featured in many local and national publications.

PARTNER, CLIENT LIASION

Charlotte has been a part of our team since day one. As a dedicated point of contact, Charlotte plays a crucial role in ensuring exceptional communication and a seamless client experience. Charlotte’s background in landscape construction management gives her a big-picture perspective and comfort with the many moving parts of large-scale productions.

 

Marta Knudson

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

With an in-depth understanding of floral and event trends, Marta works closely with our clients to develop in-depth proposals and beautiful mood boards. Marta is quick, imaginative, and intuitive (and hilarious!) all at once. Lovingly referred to as a “flower ninja,” you’ll also see her on event day leading our team of designers through intricate installations.

VP OPERATIONS

After a career in NY, DC, and SF as an executive pastry chef, Beth joins the Sophie Felts Team as Vice President of Operations. Beth worked at some of the top restaurants in the country - Beth knows what it takes to be the best and is unfazed by the fast-paced cadence of event days. We love her natural eye for design and unassuming leadership style .

Katie abello

LEAD DESIGNER

Katie comes to the Sophie Felts Floral team after having worked for a large event catering company. Katie’s experience in events allows her to lead some of our most technically difficult weddings. She cares deeply for people and is passionate about providing exceptional service to every client.

 

Pamela Escobar

STAFFING AND RESOURCE MANAGER

Pamela manages our big picture production schedule and staffing with grace and impeccable attention to detail. Her extensive experience in sales and high end events stem from her former career as a fine wine distributor. Pamela managed the accounts of many Michelin Star rated restaurants in the DC area and beyond. In addition to leading our logistics team, Pamela leads some of our most intricate weddings.

SHANNON CHIRGOTT

DESIGN MANAGER, LEAD DESINGER

Shannon is a designer with fifteen years experience, working in some of the best European and Dutch-style floral companies around the country, maintaining floral accounts with some of the area’s top clients. She developed a strong background in art while working at the Maryland Institute of Art, that now translates seamlessly into her stunning floral designs.

Hayley Greene

FLOOR MANAGER, LEAD DESIGNER

Hailing from Virginia, Hayley earned her bachelor’s degree in public health before falling in love with the floral world and quickly working her way up the ranks. Prior to Sophie Felts Floral Design, Hayley spent years working in a garden center, developing her extensive flower knowledge. She is now responsible for overseeing our day-to-day operations and keeping production flowing smoothly.

 

Audrey Laurent

PURCHASING MANAGER

Audrey works closely with local flower growers, farms across the country, and suppliers around the world to source the most beautiful product for our events. She comes from the culinary world where she worked in some of the best restaurants in DC as a chef, including Kinship, Palena and CityZen. Working in fine dining has honed Audrey’s exceptional eye for detail and ability to work at her peak, quickly and under pressure.

Melanie Kimmel

WAREHOUSE MANAGER

Mel has a background as a textile artist. She spent many years traveling the country attending juried art shows with her work. In addition to being a beautiful floral designer, Mel now runs the warehouse side of our business. She manages inventory, supplies and hard goods. Mel in an incredibly hard worker, a magician on a ladder and has an immense ability to remain calm under pressure.

JEN BENKASSEM

LEAD DESIGNER

Jen worked many years in international development. She spent time traveling in Morocco, Central and South America, and Southeast Asia as a Peace Corps Volunteer. These experiences nourished Jen’s talent of empathetically honing in on peoples’ needs, which translates to her natural ability to deliver stunning events, every time. Jen has a can-do attitude, focusing on the task at hand with dedication to every detail.

Daphne Hill

Daphne Hill, named after Sophie's youngest daughter, is a 3200 square foot barn converted into a studio space that is home to the Sophie Felts team.  Nestled on a tree farm in the Montgomery County Maryland Agricultural Reserve, Daphne Hill offers constant inspiration for our team. Conveniently located less than an hour from DC, Baltimore, Annapolis and Frederick, MD. We hope that you can make your way out for a visit!

“Recycle your Flowers, Share your Love”

We partner with Petals for Hope, a non-profit that re-purposes event flowers, delivering them to those in need within our community. A Petals for Hope team member meets us at the end of most of our events to collect your flowers and give them a second life.

As a business, over the past 5 years, we have raised and donated over $35 thousand to organizations that share our commitment of bringing kindness and inclusion to our community. We were proud to support The Greater Washington Community Foundation through our Flower Drive .
